European Commission asks for your opinion on tourism policy

Bed & Breakfast survey

How do you experience the regulatory burden when running your B&B?

What do you, as a bed & breakfast owner, think of the future of European tourism? Do you think that there are things about the laws and regulations in the tourism industry that should change? How do you experience the regulatory burden when running your B&B? The European Commission asks for your opinion on the tourism policy.

By means of two English surveys among the stakeholders, the European Commission wants to chart the main opportunities and bottlenecks in the tourism industry. The Commission also wants to decrease the regulatory burden. These are the surveys:

Open consultation with regard to regulations and administrative structure
This survey makes an assessment of bottlenecks that form an obstruction in starting up and running a successful tourism business (an excessive local administrative regulatory burden for example). With every policy area you can point out what you think the problem is by ticking the corresponding box, and subsequently motivate your choice. To the survey >>

Consultation about the future of tourism in Europe
In this survey you can point out what you think the most important opportunities and challenges for the touristic industry will be in next five to ten years. The survey also asks what the EU should do first, to strengthen the competitiveness of the European tourist industry. You can send in your own vision. To the survey >>

For B&B owners, the consultation about regulations probably is the most interesting. The surveys can be completed until 15 March 2014. The European Commission promises that the outcome will be included in the implementation of the new European policy.
