B&Bs in European capitals 25% cheaper than hotel

B&B Hotel price comparison
Bed & breakfasts in European capitals on average are 25% cheaper than hotels. This appears from figures of Bedandbreakfast.eu, the world’s largest bed & breakfast website.

Prices of fifteen popular European capitals were compared. In 2014, travellers paid an average € 108,50 for an overnight stay in a hotel in a European capital. The price of an overnight stay including breakfast in a B&B in a European capital on average amounts to € 79,50. A price difference of 25%. The differences are highest in Prague (49%), Athens (44%) and Moscow (33%).

In practice, the price difference between hotels and B&Bs is even more substantial. With hotels, guests often have to pay an additional fee for extra services such as breakfast buffet (€ 14,- per person on average**) and Wi-Fi. The room price of a bed & breakfast almost always includes breakfast. In addition, Wi-Fi is usually free of charge.

Value for money
“Thanks to their excellent value for money, B&Bs in touristic cities form an attractive alternative for hotels”, Hanny Arens, founder of Bedandbreakfast.eu says. “B&Bs are often located at favourable locations in the middle of a city, making them the perfect accommodation for tourists and business travellers. When it comes to comfort, the average bed & breakfast is not inferior to a hotel. An added value is the personal service. With a warm welcome, tips about the area, and served breakfast, a bed & breakfast positively distinguishes itself from hotels.”

  • That’s quite a difference in pricing! Especially in Prague and Paris! B&Bs I find are much better value for money too!
