Bed & Breakfast USP

Ask yourself: what do your guests appreciate most?

If you want to promote your bed & breakfast succesfully, you’ll need a proper USP or Unique Selling Proposition (USP). A USP is a promise that convinces guests to choose your B&B, instead of a competitioner. But how do you get one?

To find out what your USP is, you can ask yourself some of the following questions.

  • What characteristics of my B&B are unique?
  • What are the benefits of these characteristics for my guests,
  • What do my guests expect from me?
  • What kind of USPs do they use, and what is it your B&B is offering what they do not?

If you can simply answer the questions above, try to phrase a catchy USP in one or two sentences. Examples of powerful USPs are: “Room with fireplace! You get the firewood for free”. Or: “Flopping into the comfy couch. The magazines are already waiting for you”. This is also an excellent example: “In the morning the children can collect eggs with the farmer, while you enjoy a good book”.

Inspiration from reviews
Browse through your guestbook and take a look at the guest reviews on Bedandbreakfast.eu sometime. What do your guests write about? What did they enjoy in particular? This could very possible be your USP! An original, little daring USP is all right. After all, it is what makes your B&B unique.

And to conclude: use your USP. Do not be modest about it, but emphasize it in your communications, for example, on your presentation page on Bedandbreakfast.eu or on your own website. If you’ve got it, flaunt it!
